WILMINGTON, Del. – Junior center
Chris Gebhart (Cherry Hill West H.S./Cherry Hill, N.J.) of Goldey-Beacom College has been named as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 24, it has been announced by CACC officials.
In leading the Lightning to a 74-71 win over Millersville on Saturday afternoon, Gebhart tallied a season-high five blocked shots while recording seven rebounds as Goldey-Beacom ended a three-game losing streak. He also matched his season high by scoring 14 points, making six of seven field goal attempts in addition to two of three free throws.
A starter in all five games for the Lightning, Gebhart is the team's leading scorer with an 11.3 average and ranks second by grabbing 6.2 rebounds per game. With 11 blocks in five games, he is tied for third in the CACC.
Led by Gebhart, the Lightning will resume their CACC schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 26 when they travel to Georgian Court University for an 8 p.m. game against the Lions. It will be the first meeting between the two teams in men's basketball.
