PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior
Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) of Goldey-Beacom College has been named as a first team selection to the 2013-14 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's tennis team, it has been announced by CACC officials.
The All-CACC teams were announced at the conference's annual awards banquet at Chestnut Hill College prior to the start of the CACC Women's Tennis Championship, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20.
In addition, senior
Rocio Cabanillas Moreno (Sevilla, Spain) and freshman
Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) earned second team All-CACC honors while freshman
Maria Angeles Victoria Martinez (Totana, Spain) and junior
Filipa Correia (Lisboa, Portuagl) received honorable mention notice.
A three-time first team All-CACC selection, Puentes Robinson has led the Lightning to a 7-2 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the CACC. Playing as the Lightning's number one singles player, she has earned an 8-4 overall singles record, including a 6-3 mark at number one singles.
In addition, she has earned a 6-3 doubles record this season while playing primarily at the number two position.
Puentes Robinson, who was named as the CACC's Player of the Year as a freshman and sophomore, has earned a 39-10 career singles record. With 39 career singles victories and a .792 singles win percentage, she ranks fourth in school history.
A two-year letter winner for Coach
Joe Kissel, Cabanillas Moreno has earned a 5-3 singles record this season while playing as the Lightning's number two doubles player. In addition, she has posted a 6-3 doubles mark while teaming with Sengl at number one doubles.
A first team All-CACC selection as a junior, Cabanillas Moreno has tallied an 18-8 singles record in her two-year career.
Playing primarily as the Lightning's number five singles player, Sengl has posted an impressive 10-1 singles record this season, including a perfect 7-0 mark against CACC opponents. She has also earned an 8-3 doubles mark while playing on the number one doubles team.
In her first season with the Lightning, Victoria Martinez has posted a 5-4 singles record, including a 3-3 mark at number three singles. She also earned a win at number two singles on Sept. 6 in the Lightning's 9-0 win over Molloy.
In addition, Victoria Martinez has a 7-3 doubles record while playing with Puentes Robinson on the number two doubles team.
Correia earned an honorable mention selection on the All-CACC team after posting a 9-2 record in singles matches, including a 6-1 mark against CACC competition. In addition, she has an impressive 8-1 doubles record this year, including a 5-1 mark while playing with freshman
Raquel Santos (Belo Horizonte, Brazil).
The Lightning, who earned their sixth consecutive CACC Championship berth, will face defending CACC champion Concordia in the semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.
