Richardson Honored as CACC Player of the Week for Third Time

Senior Guard Recorded First "Triple Double" in Program History Against Post

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior guard Devonne Richardson (Milford Mill Academy/Baltimore, Md.) of Goldey-Beacom College has been honored as the recipient of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball Player of the Week award for the week ending Jan. 27, it has been announced by CACC officials.

It is the fourth time Richardson has been honored with the award in her career, including three times this season. She also earned the honor on Nov. 12 and Dec. 10.

In leading the Lightning to a pair of wins over Philadelphia University and Post University last week, Richardson averaged 12.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 10.5 assists per game.

She tallied 10 points with 10 rebounds and nine assists in the Lightning's 76-52 victory over the Rams on Wednesday night at the Gallagher Center. With her 10-rebound effort against the Rams, she broke the Goldey-Beacom career rebounds record that was held by former Lightning standout Kim Rowley (2003-07).

On Saturday afternoon, Richardson became the first player in Goldey-Beacom women's basketball history to record a “triple double” in the Lightning's 68-45 victory over the Eagles at the Joseph West Jones College Center. She scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while setting a career high with 12 assists.

In addition, Richardson's effort marked the sixth “triple double” in NCAA Division II this season and the first occurrence by a player in the CACC this season.

The Lightning's leading scorer with a 12.3 average, Richardson ranks fourth in the CACC by averaging 9.6 rebounds per game. She also ranks second in the CACC with 104 assists and ranks fourth in the CACC with 48 steals.

Led by Richardson, the Lightning have won 10 of their last 13 games and will return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to the University of the Sciences for a 6 p.m. CACC game against the Devils at Bobby Morgan Arena. The Devils edged the Lightning in overtime by a 65-61 margin in the first meeting on Nov. 20 at the Jones Center.
