CACC Volleyball Weekly Report (Sept. 5, 2012)
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sophomore outside hitter
Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) of the Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team has been named as an honorable mention selection for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly awards for the week ending Sept. 3, it has been announced by CACC officials.
It is the first time that McCoy has earned an honorable mention selection for a weekly award in her career.
McCoy led the Lightning to a 2-1 record at the "Battle in the Nation's Capital" tournament hosted by the University of the District of Columbia last weekend, recording 36 kills with 32 digs. After opening the season with seven kills and 11 digs against Elizabeth City State, she tallied eight kills with 12 digs in a four-set victory over Bowie State on Saturday morning.
In the Lightning's five-set victory over Virginia State on Saturday afternoon, the Lightning co-captain exploded for a career-high 21 kills with nine digs and six service aces.
An honorable mention All-CACC selection last year, McCoy is tied for seventh in the CACC with 36 kills while her eight service aces are tied for third place in the CACC.
Led by McCoy, the Lightning will open their home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a pair of non-conference matches against UMass-Lowell and Bowie State at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
