CACC Women's Tennis Weekly Release: Sept. 12, 2012
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior
Blanca Sancho (Zaragoza, Spain) of Goldey-Beacom College has been named as an honorable mention selection for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly awards for the week ending Sept. 10, it has been announced by CACC officials.
It is the first time that Sancho has been named as an honorable mention selection for a weekly award in her career.
Sancho led the Lightning to an 8-1 victory over Philadelphia University in their CACC opener on Sunday afternoon. After teaming with sophomore
Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Columbia) to post an 8-3 triumph at number one doubles, Sancho earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at number three singles for the 25th singles victory of her college career.
Sancho, who is serving as the Lightning's team captain this season, has won seven straight singles matches going back to last season after posting a victory in Goldey-Beacom's 9-0 victory over the University of the Sciences on Tuesday afternoon.
Led by Sancho, the Lightning will host Caldwell College on Friday afternoon at the DelCastle Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
