WILMINGTON, Del. – The Goldey-Beacom College men's soccer team will open its 2012 regular season schedule by competing at the St. Rose Tournament on Thursday, August 30, it has been announced by first-year Coach
Ryan Dixon.
The Lightning will play two games at the College of Saint Rose Tournament against opponents that have yet to be determined before opening a three-match homestand against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Philadelphia University on Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. Goldey-Beacom will also face CACC rivals Wilmington and Felician during the homestand on Sept. 12 and 15, respectively.
After a pair of road CACC games against Chestnut Hill (Sept. 18) and Dominican (Sept. 22), the Lightning will begin another three-match homestand on Sept. 25 with a non-conference match against Washington Adventist on Sept. 25. The homestand will also feature a CACC match-up against Concordia on Sept. 29 along with a non-league match against Shippensburg on Oct. 3.
The Lightning will play back-to-back road matches at Post and Holy Family on Oct. 6 and 10, respectively, before playing its final home match of the regular season on Oct. 13 against Caldwell, which will also act as the team's Homecoming match.
Goldey-Beacom ends the regular season with four consecutive road matches, including a non-conference visit to Howard University on Oct. 27.
The CACC Championship will be held on Oct. 30, Nov. 1 and Nov. 3 with the CACC champion earning an automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.
In addition, the Lightning will host its annual Alumni Game on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Churchman-Sawin Field at 1 p.m.
