LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Sophomore outside hitter
Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) of Goldey-Beacom College has been named as an honorable mention selection on the 2012 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference volleyball team, it was announced at the CACC's annual Awards Banquet held at Wilmington University on Friday afternoon.
It is the second straight year McCoy has been recognized as an honorable mention selection by the CACC.
A starter in every match for the Lightning this season, McCoy was one of three players to play in all 99 sets for Coach
Rich Bowers. Entering this weekend's CACC semifinals, she ranks second in the CACC with 335 kills and a 3.38 kill per set average. In addition, she leads the CACC by averaging 3.83 points per set while ranking second on the team with 275 digs and 31 service aces.
McCoy tallied at least 10 kills in 17 matches this season, including three matches with 20 or more kills. In the Lightning's five-set loss against Bloomfield on Oct. 27, she tallied a career-high 24 kills and had a .397 hitting percentage. She also had 23 kills in a four-set loss against Chestnut Hill and contributed 21 kills in the Lightning's five-set win over Virginia State on Sept. 1.
In addition, McCoy tallied 10 or more digs in 14 matches as a sophomore, including a season-high 22 digs against Chestnut Hill. Over the final seven matches of the season, McCoy tallied 10 or more digs five times and averaged 10.7 digs per match.
One of the Lightning's team captains this season, McCoy finished the season with the fourth-highest single-season kill total in school history while her 1,033 attack attempts are a school single-season record.
Through two seasons, McCoy ranks fifth in school history with 618 career kills and needs 351 kills to become the school's all-time leader.
