FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Sophomore guard
Charles Jackson (Brandywine H.S./Wilmington, Del.) of the Goldey-Beacom College men's basketball team has been named as a member of the 2012 Nova Southeastern University Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team, it has been announced by tournament officials.
While leading the Lightning to a split of their two games at the tournament, Jackson averaged 19.5 points per game while shooting 60.0 per cent from the field and 80.0 per cent from the free throw line.
In the Lightning's tournament opener against Nova Southeastern on Friday evening, Jackson scored a career-high 15 points by making 7 of 11 shots from the floor while adding six rebounds.
On Saturday night, Jackson helped the Lightning to a convincing 110-68 victory over the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaquez with a game-high 24 points to eclipse his previous career high. He made 8 of 14 field goal attempts and also connected on eight of nine free throw attempts.
In addition to his game-high 24 points, Jackson also added six rebounds against the Tanzans as the Lightning recorded their highest single-game point total in nearly four years.
The Lightning's third-leading scorer with a 10.5 average, Jackson has appeared in all six games this season and is shooting 53.5 per cent from the field and 80.0 per cent from the free throw line. He is also averaging 4.7 rebounds for the Lightning, who have won two of their last three games after an 0-3 start.
Led by Jackson, the Lightning will continue their five-game road trip on Wednesday night when they travel to Mercy College for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Mavericks.
