INDIANAPOLIS – The Goldey-Beacom College women’s tennis team earned a No. 5 ranking in the second official NCAA Division II East Regional rankings voted on by the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Committee.
The Lightning were previously ranked No. 6 in the first NCAA poll of the season voted for back on Apr. 7, but moved up to No. 5 in the second edition earlier this afternoon. Championship selections will take place on Apr. 28. The top eight teams in each region are selected for the NCAA Regional Tournament.
GBC was 13-2 during the Fall season and advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference finals before bowing out to conference newcomer, Concordia (who is currently No. 2 in the region). The Lightning are 0-2 this Spring after suffering an 8-1 loss to East Stroudsburg on Mar. 28 and a 9-0 loss to the No. 1 team in the East Region, Queens College (N.Y.) on Sat., Apr. 10.
