ITA Poll

PIKE CREEK, Del. – The Goldey-Beacom College women’s tennis team has again earned a No. 7 ranking in the ITA East Region poll published on Mar. 2.
The Lightning, who finished 13-2 this Fall and reached the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference finals for the first time in program history, edged out conference foe Holy Family (8th) for the seventh spot.
Queens College, a perennial powerhouse in the East Coast Conference, was ranked No. 1, followed by CACC champion Concordia. The Clippers also had three individual players make the top-15 rankings.
The Lightning will begin play again on Mar. 28 when they host East Stroudsburg. The next ITA ranking dates are Mar. 30 and then Apr. 25 for NCAA East Tournament consideration. The top eight teams in the region qualify for the NCAA East Regional Tournament.
“The spring season will be very important as we will get an opportunity to play for an NCAA invitation,” Kissel said. “If these young ladies ever had an incentive to work hard on off-season conditioning, this should be a good motivator.”
