PIKE CREEK, Del. – Sophomore Karin Eriksson of the Goldey-Beacom College women’s soccer team, has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 2 Third All-Academic Team.
Eriksson, business administration major with a 3.90 grade point average, was among 15 players selected to the Third Team based on their athletic and academic accomplishments. The voting was conducted by sports information directors at member schools.
To be eligible for the team, student athletes must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale, have at least sophomore eligibility and be a starter or a key reserve for their respective teams. District 2 includes all NCAA Division II schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.
A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Eriksson started all 16 games for the Lightning this season. She led the team offensively with 19 points on nine goals and one assist. She also ranked first on the team in shots with 50, putting 28 on goal.
