The Goldey-Beacom College was recognized in the Top-40 in the nation for grade point average.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Goldey-Beacom College softball team was ranked No. 40 in the nation in a National Fastpitch Coaches' Association poll for softball programs' grade point averages released this past Friday.

The Lightning, led by head coach Jerry Grasso, have a team grade point average of 3.230.

"Our player's commitment in the classroom is amazing," Grasso said. "It's also a credit to our faculty and staff who support our student-athletes.  We are very proud of their accomplishments, and our goal is to continue to work hard and be the best possible sports program on the GBC campus.   Our goal for next year is to finish in the top-25 and have six NFCA Academic All-Americans.”

Ouachita Baptist was ranked No. 1 with a GPA of 3.663, followed by Monticello, Arkansas (3.579). Barry (3.555), Grand Valley State (3.525) and Rockhurst (3.520) rounded out the top-five.

Other Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schools that appeared in the poll were Caldwell College (24th, 3.329), the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (27th, 3.316) and Holy Family University (30th, 3.280).
