PHILADELPHIA – Freshman Elizabeth Williams paced the Goldey-Beacom College women’s cross country team with a 54th place overall finish as the Lightning took 11th place out of 14 teams at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship meet at rain-soaked Belmont Plateau on Sat.
Philadelphia University placed five runners in the top-15 to win the meet for the second consecutive year. The Lady Rams totaled 31 points, ahead of runner-up Georgian Court University (61), Dominican College (122), University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (129) and Wilmington University (129).
Williams was the Lightning’s top finisher, coming in at a time of 24:52 to take 54th place overall. Sophomore Marie Fountain, freshman Alyssa Murray and junior Brittney Murray came in as a pack, taking 60, 61 and 62nd place in that order.
Juniors Kaydean Hayden and Nitasia Dupree and senior Myishea Hales finished in another Lightning pack as they took 79, 80 and 81st, respectively.
