NEW YORK CITY – The Goldey-Beacom College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Hunter Invitational at Van Cortland Park on a cold, rainy Sun. afternoon, as the men’s team placed third of 13 and the women’s team placed sixth of 12.
Sophomore Ben Kinley led the way for the Lightning men with his second top-five finish of the season at 4th place. He finished with a time of 30:44 in the 8K.
Freshman Liz Williams again led the women’s team with a time of 30:31 and 12th place finish in the 6K. Junior Brittney Murray provided a strong push for Williams, finishing hundredths of a second behind her to take 13th place overall.
“Brittney had an outstanding performance in the rain for a top-15 finish,” head coach Brian Conley said. “She muscled through the cold and every mile split was faster than her season personal best 5K last week. She looked great in the second part of the race and really finished strong.”
