WATERBURY, Conn. – The Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team fell on the road at Post University, 3-0 on Sun. in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
After losing the first set 25-13, the Lightning (8-16, 3-11 CACC) battled hard in the second set before eventually falling 25-23. The Eagles (7-7, 7-5) then closed out the match 25-16 in the third set.
Freshman Monica Dempsey led GBC offensively with five kills and four assists. Sophomore Roni Shaner pitched in with four kills and seven assists. Defensively, graduate senior Christine Hudock led the team with nine digs and senior Lauren Witzke was right behind her with eight.
The Lightning are back in action Tues. at 7 p.m. as they visit CACC rival University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
